Description

A delightful chilled sandwich made with fluffy milk bread, sweet whipped cream, and fresh strawberries, perfect for a light dessert or snack.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 4 slices Milk bread (Shokupan if available, otherwise the softest white bread)
  • 1 cup Fresh strawberries (Choose medium to large, bright red strawberries)
  • 1 cup Heavy whipping cream (Ensure it is cold for whipping)
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar (To lightly sweeten the whipped cream)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Trim the crusts off the milk bread slices using a serrated knife if desired.
  2. Wash and dry the strawberries, then trim the tops off.

Whipping the Cream

  1. In a cold bowl, combine the heavy whipping cream and sugar.
  2. Whip the cream until stiff peaks form, ensuring not to overwhip.

Assembling the Sando

  1. Spread a thick layer of whipped cream on one slice of bread.
  2. Arrange the strawberries on top of the cream as desired, with larger ones in the center.
  3. Add more whipped cream around the strawberries to fill gaps.
  4. Place another slice of bread, cream side down, on top.
  5. Gently press the sandwich together to seal it.

Chilling

  1. Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 45 minutes, up to 2 hours.

Serving

  1. Using a sharp knife, slice the sandwich diagonally and serve chilled.

Notes

Best served fresh, within a few hours for optimal texture. Can be made ahead but use within the same day for the best results.
