Description

These homemade Spiced Pear Muffins are moist and lightly spiced, perfect for breakfast or snacks with juicy pear bits in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon (Main spice flavor)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground ginger (Optional but recommended)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg or cloves (Optional)

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup Brown sugar (For depth of flavor)
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk or buttermilk (Choose based on preference)
  • 1/2 cup Neutral oil or melted butter (Oil keeps muffins moist longer)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Main Ingredient

  • 2 cups Ripe pears, peeled and diced (Use ripe but not mushy pears)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a muffin pan with paper liners or lightly grease it.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg/cloves.
  3. In a larger bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, eggs, milk (or buttermilk), oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract.
  4. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined; the batter should be lumpy.
  5. Fold in the diced pears gently.

Baking

  1. Fill each muffin cup almost to the top and bake in the preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  2. Then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for another 12 to 16 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean.

Cooling

  1. Let the muffins cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For bakery-style muffins, fill the cups high, start with a hot oven and do not overmix. Store in an airtight container for 2-3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Add a sprinkle of coarse sugar on top before baking for extra crunch.
