Units Scale

For Each Flavor Layer

  • 3 cups Rice Chex or Corn Chex (Same amount for each flavor batch.)
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar (For coating the puppy chow.)
  • 1 cup Chocolate chips (Semi-sweet or milk chocolate for chocolate layer.)
  • 1 cup White chocolate chips (For strawberry and vanilla layers.)
  • 1 cup Freeze dried strawberries (To make strawberry powder.)
  • 1/2 cup Strawberry flavored candy melts (Optional for a stronger strawberry color.)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter or coconut oil (Used to smooth melting chocolate.)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract (For the vanilla layer.)
  • 1 pinch Salt (Enhances the flavor of chocolate.)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Make freeze-dried strawberry powder by blending freeze-dried strawberries until fine.
  2. For the strawberry layer: Melt white chocolate with coconut oil or butter, stir in strawberry powder, and coat the cereal. Shake in powdered sugar.
  3. For the chocolate layer: Melt chocolate chips with butter or coconut oil, stir in a pinch of salt, coat the cereal, and shake in powdered sugar after cooling.
  4. For the vanilla layer: Melt white chocolate, stir in vanilla extract and salt, coat the cereal, and shake in powdered sugar after cooling.
  5. Let each layer cool on a sheet pan before combining them in a big bowl.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Prevent chocolate from seizing by keeping equipment dry and microwaving in bursts. Variations include using dark chocolate or adding mini marshmallows for more fun.
