Description

Quick and cozy handheld sandwiches perfect for parties, featuring soft rolls filled with deli ham, cheese, and a creamy mustard spread.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the sandwiches

  • 12 pieces Soft dinner rolls or small slider buns (A 12-pack is perfect)
  • 12 slices Deli ham (Thin sliced is easiest to bite through)
  • 12 slices Cheese slices (Swiss, cheddar, provolone, or preference) (Half Swiss and half cheddar is a good mix for a crowd)
  • 1 cup Lettuce (Optional, but adds crunch)
  • 8 oz Cream cheese (Softened for spreading)
  • 2 tablespoons Mustard (Dijon is preferred; yellow is fine too)
  • 1 tablespoon Mayonnaise (Optional, for extra creaminess)
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Mix softened cream cheese with Dijon mustard, adding a pinch of salt and pepper. If desired, mix in a spoonful of mayonnaise for a looser consistency.
  2. Slice the rolls in half, keeping them connected if possible. Spread the cream cheese-mustard mixture on both halves.
  3. Layer the deli ham, cheese, and optional lettuce on the bottom half of each roll. If using wide ham, fold it instead of laying it flat.
  4. Press the top half of the rolls gently to help the layers settle.
  5. Optional: Chill assembled sandwiches for 10 to 15 minutes to help hold everything together before cutting.

Cutting and Serving

  1. Using a serrated knife, cut the sandwiches into quarters or smaller pieces, depending on preference.
  2. Secure sandwiches with toothpicks for easier serving if desired.

Notes

These sandwiches can be assembled a few hours ahead and stored in the refrigerator. Pair with sweet mini desserts for a complete party spread.
