Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Cabbage

  • 1 head Cabbage, cut into wedges (Remove loose outer leaves before cutting)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (For searing)
  • 1 tablespoon Oil (To mix with butter for searing)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (To taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper (To taste)

For the Creamy Parmesan Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons Butter (For making the sauce)
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced (Fresh is best)
  • 1 cup Heavy cream (Or half and half)
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, finely grated (To melt smoothly)
  • 1 pinch Nutmeg (Optional, for flavor)
  • 1 pinch Red pepper flakes (Optional, for heat)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Remove any loose outer leaves from the cabbage.
  2. Slice the cabbage in half through the core, then cut each half into wedges.

Searing the Cabbage

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add butter and oil.
  2. Place the cabbage wedges cut side down in the skillet and sear without touching for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Flip the wedges and sear the other side for about 4-5 minutes.

Making the Sauce

  1. Lower the heat and add more butter to the skillet.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and stir gently.
  4. Gradually sprinkle in Parmens, stirring until melted and smooth.

Baking

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Spoon the creamy sauce over the seared cabbage wedges.
  3. Bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes, until the center is tender.
  4. Optional: Broil for 1-2 minutes for extra browning.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven to avoid sauce thickening in the fridge.
