Description

These Honey Balsamic Brussels Sprouts are a crowd-pleasing side dish, perfectly crispy on the edges with a sticky sweet and tangy glaze. They are easy to make and adaptable for any occasion.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 to 2 pounds Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved (Select Brussels sprouts that are similar in size for even cooking.)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil (Use enough to coat the sprouts well for crispiness.)
  • 0.5 teaspoon kosher salt (Plus more to taste.)
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper (Freshly cracked is preferred.)
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar (Adds tangy flavor.)
  • 1.5 to 2 tablespoons honey (For a sweet glaze.)
  • pinch red pepper flakes (Optional for added heat.)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and place a sheet pan in the oven to heat.
  2. Trim the ends off the Brussels sprouts and slice them in half from top to bottom.
  3. Toss the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and pepper, then spread them cut side down on the heated sheet pan.

Cooking

  1. Roast the sprouts for 18 to 25 minutes, flipping once halfway through, until they have golden edges and are fork-tender.
  2. While the sprouts are roasting, mix together balsamic vinegar and honey in a small bowl. Add red pepper flakes if using.
  3. Once the sprouts are roasted, toss them with the honey balsamic mixture right on the hot pan.
  4. Return to the oven for an additional 2 to 4 minutes to allow the glaze to thicken and cling to the sprouts.

Final Touch

  1. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding a pinch more salt if needed.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding bacon or nuts as variations. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan while roasting.
