Description
A refreshing and hydrating drink made from ripe watermelon, perfect for hot summer days.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 4-6 cups Seedless watermelon, cubed and chilled (Choose a ripe melon that smells sweet.)
- 1-2 tablespoons Fresh lime juice (Optional but highly recommended.)
- 1 pinch Salt (Enhances the flavor.)
- 1-2 teaspoons Honey or maple syrup (Only add if the melon is not sweet.)
- to taste Mint leaves (Optional, for a fresh garnish.)
- as needed Ice (For serving or blend in for a slushy consistency.)
Instructions
Preparation
- Cut and chill the watermelon. Cube the watermelon and remove any black seeds. Chill the cubes for at least 30 minutes.
- Blend the watermelon cubes in a blender. Start with 4 cups and add more if your blender has space. Blend for about 20 to 40 seconds until fully liquid.
- Taste and adjust. Add lime juice and a tiny pinch of salt, then blend again. If the melon is not sweet enough, add honey or maple syrup.
- Strain (optional). If you prefer a smooth texture, pour the juice through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher.
- Serve in glasses over ice. Add mint leaves for garnish if desired.
Notes
Storage: Keep leftovers in a covered pitcher in the fridge for up to 2 days. Stir before pouring as the juice may separate. You can also freeze the juice in ice cube trays for later use.
