Description

This quick and easy Firecracker Ground Chicken recipe features bold flavors with a sweet and spicy sauce, perfect for a weeknight dinner without the mess.

Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground chicken (Lean is great, but any works.)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (Fresh is best, jar is also fine.)
  • 1 bunch Green onions (Some for cooking, some for topping.)
  • 1 tbsp Oil (Avocado, olive, or whatever you use for cooking.)

Firecracker sauce

  • 1/2 cup Sweet chili sauce (For the sticky sweet base.)
  • 1-2 tbsp Hot sauce (Sriracha style is perfect.)
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce (Or tamari for a gluten-free option.)
  • 1 tbsp Rice vinegar (Or lime juice.)
  • 1 tbsp Honey (Or brown sugar, just a little.)
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch (Optional, for thicker sauce.)
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds (Optional, for garnish.)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Mix the sweet chili sauce, hot sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and honey in a bowl to make the Firecracker sauce.
  2. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add ground chicken and cook until no longer pink, breaking it up into small crumbles.
  4. Add garlic and some green onions to the skillet and stir for about 30 seconds.
  5. Pour in the Firecracker sauce, stir well, and let it bubble for 2-3 minutes until it thickens.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  7. Finish with additional green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Do not overcook the chicken to prevent it from drying out. You can adjust the sauce to your taste, making it milder or spicier.
