Easy and comforting slow-cooked chicken thighs with a creamy gravy that will satisfy your hunger without the hassle.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 4 pieces Chicken thighs (bone-in or boneless) (Bone-in thighs are more flavorful; boneless are more convenient.)
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Onion powder
- 1 teaspoon Paprika (optional)
- 2 cups Chicken broth (low sodium)
- 1 can Cream of chicken soup (Can substitute with cream of mushroom.)
- 1/2 cup Sour cream or heavy cream (For creaminess.)
- 2 tablespoons Cornstarch (or flour) (For thickening.)
Optional Additions
- 1 cup Sliced onions (Add for extra flavor.)
- 1 cup Sliced mushrooms (Add for a mushroom gravy twist.)
- 1 teaspoon Fresh thyme or parsley (Use for garnishing.)
Instructions
Preparation
- Season the chicken thighs with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- In the crockpot, whisk together chicken broth and cream of chicken soup until mostly smooth.
- Nestle the chicken thighs into the sauce and add sliced onions or mushrooms if using.
- Cover and cook on Low for 5 to 6 hours or High for 3 to 4 hours.
- Stir in sour cream or heavy cream near the end to maintain creaminess.
- Mix cornstarch with cold water and stir it into the gravy to thicken for a few minutes.
Notes
For best results, avoid overfilling the crockpot and season in layers. Let the dish rest a few minutes before serving to allow the gravy to thicken.
