Description

A cozy, easy recipe for slow-cooked chicken in rich gravy, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 pieces chicken breasts or thighs (Use fresh or frozen; thaw if necessary.)
  • 1 packet chicken gravy mix (The kind your grandma uses.)
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup (Can substitute with cream of mushroom or cream of celery.)
  • 2 cups chicken broth (Use low-sodium to reduce salt intake.)
  • 1 teaspoon pepper (Freshly ground is best for flavor.)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Lay chicken flat in the bottom of your crockpot.
  2. In a bowl, mix the gravy packet, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, and pepper. Stir until slightly lumpy.
  3. Pour gravy mixture over the chicken.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or high for 4 hours.
  5. Shred or slice the chicken directly in the pot and stir it back into the gravy.

Notes

To enhance flavor, you can add garlic powder, onion powder, or dried thyme. A splash of sour cream can add creaminess. Serve over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice for a complete meal.
