Description

Sweet and spicy candied jalapeños that elevate any dish, perfect for snacking or as a condiment.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 8 pieces Fresh jalapeños, sliced into rounds (Choose firm jalapeños for best results.)
  • 2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Apple cider vinegar (White vinegar works too, but cider tastes warmer.)

Spices

  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric (For color and a subtle earthy note.)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Celery seed (Adds pickle flavor.)
  • 1 teaspoon Red pepper flakes (Optional, for extra kick.)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Slice your jalapeños into even rounds.
  2. In a large pot, stir together sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, turmeric, and celery seed. Bring it to a gentle boil.

Cooking

  1. Let the mixture bubble for about 4 to 5 minutes until it starts to thicken slightly.
  2. Add the sliced jalapeños and simmer for about 4 minutes until they turn a deeper green and soften slightly.

Packing and Cooling

  1. Use a slotted spoon to pack the jalapeños into clean jars, leaving some room at the top.
  2. Ladle hot syrup over the peppers until they are covered, tapping the jars lightly to release air bubbles.
  3. If storing in the fridge, let cool slightly before refrigerating. Flavor improves after 24 hours.

Notes

For best flavor, wait at least 24 hours before consuming. Store in the fridge for 2-3 months.
