Ingredients

Units Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1-2 cans Cinnamon rolls (refrigerated or homemade) (Store-bought is recommended for speed on Thanksgiving morning.)
  • 1 package Bacon (Regular cut works best for shaping feathers.)
  • 1 cup Icing (from the rolls) (Plus extra if you like them sweet.)
  • 1 cup Candy eyes (Mini chocolate chips can be used as an alternative.)
  • 1 cup Orange candy for beaks (Options include orange Tic Tacs or small orange gumdrops.)
  • 1 cup Red candy for the wattle (Red heart sprinkles or a tiny dot of red gel icing works.)
  • optional Chopped nuts, sprinkles, or mini M&Ms (For extra decoration.)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven and prepare bacon by laying strips on a foil-lined sheet.
  2. Bake bacon until edges are crisp but still slightly bendy in the center.
  3. Bake cinnamon rolls according to package instructions, spacing them out for expansion.
  4. Let cinnamon rolls cool for about 5 minutes before decorating.

Assembly

  1. Cut bacon strips into 2-3 inch pieces for feathers and poke them into the back top edge of each roll.
  2. Ice the front half of the roll and attach candy eyes, the orange beak, and the red wattle in order.

Notes

If transporting, bring extra icing and candy eyes for touch-ups. For a total Thanksgiving breakfast, serve with fruit, scrambled eggs, and drinks.
