Description

Easily make tender, flavorful BBQ chicken in your slow cooker with minimal effort and maximum taste.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 6 pieces Chicken breasts or chicken thighs (Thighs are juicier and more forgiving if overcooked.)
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (Use your favorite brand or a homemade version.)
  • 1 medium Onion (Optional, but adds flavor.)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (Can be fresh or garlic powder.)
  • 1 tsp Salt (To taste.)
  • 1 tsp Pepper (To taste.)
  • 1 tbsp Apple cider vinegar (Optional, helps balance sweetness.)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Spray your slow cooker lightly or use a liner for easy cleanup.
  2. Add sliced onion to the bottom if using it.
  3. Place the chicken in a single layer.
  4. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic.
  5. Pour BBQ sauce over the chicken, ensuring it’s well coated but not drowned.

Cooking

  1. Cook on low for 4 to 6 hours or on high for 2 to 3 hours.

Shredding

  1. Shred the chicken in the crockpot using two forks and stir it back into the sauce.
  2. Let it sit for 10 minutes with the lid on to soak up more sauce.

Notes

For best results, avoid overcooking the chicken to prevent dryness. Adjust seasonings to taste, as BBQ sauce brands vary significantly.
