Instructions
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a casserole dish.
- Cook bacon until crisp; chop and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the diced onion and minced garlic. Season with salt and pepper, and drain excess grease.
- In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese, sour cream, and eggs until well combined.
- Stir in about two-thirds of the shredded cheddar cheese, chopped bacon, and optional pickles.
- Fold the cooked beef into the cheese mixture.
- Spread the mixture into the greased casserole dish and top with the remaining cheddar cheese.
Baking
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until bubbly and the cheese on top is melted.
- Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing to ensure neat squares.
Notes
For the best texture, use room temperature cream cheese and drain any excess grease from the beef. Leftovers improve in flavor and can be reheated in the oven for best results.
