Description

A comforting and easy-to-make chili dog casserole loaded with ground beef, hot dogs, and crispy tater tots, finished with melted cheddar cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 8 pieces Hot dogs or smoked sausages
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 32 ounce bag Tater tots, frozen
  • 1 10 ounce can Tomatoes with green chilies
  • 1 Medium Yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 15 ounce can Tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Chili seasoning
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 cups Sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Cooking spray Cooking spray


Instructions

Preparation

  1. Spray the crockpot with cooking spray.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat; drain excess fat.
  3. Transfer the beef to the crockpot.
  4. Add sliced hot dogs, minced garlic, chopped onion, tomatoes with green chilies, tomato sauce, black pepper, chili seasoning, and salt to the crockpot. Stir well to combine.
  5. Layer the tater tots on top of the mixture.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 5 hours.
  7. Before serving, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top and let it melt.
  8. Serve warm.

Notes

Serve with ketchup, mustard, chopped pickles, sour cream, or a simple green salad. Store leftovers in airtight containers for up to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
