Description

An impressive yet easy Surf and Turf featuring tender steak and juicy shrimp, all brought together with a silky garlic sauce.

Ingredients

For the Surf and Turf

  • 2 pieces ribeye or NY strip steaks, 1 to 1.5 inches thick (Choose high-quality steaks for best results.)
  • 12 to 16 pieces jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined (Look for plump, firm shrimp.)

For Seasoning

  • to taste Kosher salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

For Cooking

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Sauce

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (Freshly squeezed for best flavor.)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (For garnish.)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Pat the steaks dry and season well. Let sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

Cooking the Steaks

  1. Heat a heavy skillet until very hot. Add olive oil and then the steaks to the pan without crowding.
  2. Sear the steaks for 2 to 3 minutes per side. Add butter and baste the steaks. Check internal temperature.
  3. Transfer the steaks to a warm plate and let them rest.

Cooking the Shrimp

  1. In the same skillet, add more butter and then the shrimp. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until opaque.
  2. Remove the shrimp from the skillet.

Making the Sauce

  1. Lower the heat and add minced garlic to the same skillet to sauté until fragrant.
  2. Pour in heavy cream and let simmer on low until thickened. Stir in grated Parmesan, lemon juice, and season to taste.

Serving

  1. Slice the steak against the grain. Plate the steak and shrimp, and spoon the creamy garlic sauce over the top. Garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

Serve alongside mashed potatoes or asparagus for a complete meal. For variety, consider using lobster tails instead of shrimp or pairing with a crispy salad.
