Description

A quick and easy appetizer featuring a flaky dough base filled with creamy cheese and sweet-spicy pepper jelly, perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough (Can substitute with puff pastry or mini phyllo shells)
  • 8 oz full-fat cream cheese (Cube before beating for even texture)
  • 1/4 cup pepper jelly (Choose mild for kids or medium for a little kick)

Optional Garnishes

  • to taste green onions or chives (For freshness and color)
  • 2 tbsp chopped pecans (For extra crunch)
  • a sprinkle flaky salt (To enhance sweetness)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). If using crescent dough or puff pastry, cut it into small squares and press them into a mini muffin tin. If using phyllo shells, set them on a lined baking sheet.

Filling and Baking

  1. Beat the cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Drop a small spoonful of cream cheese into each cup, then top with a little pepper jelly. Don’t overfill.
  3. Bake for 10 to 14 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden at the edges.

Finishing Touches

  1. Cool for 5 minutes, then top with chopped herbs or nuts if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

To prevent soggy pastry bottoms, chill dough cups in the tin for 5 minutes before baking. Use less filling to prevent overflow which can lead to sticky edges.
