Description

Sweet, savory, and sticky, this Honey Garlic Chicken Thighs recipe is perfect for busy weeknights, delivering big flavor with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken thighs (or bone-in for extra flavor)
  • 1/2 cup honey (the thick, sticky backbone of the sauce)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced (fresh is best for that bold aroma)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (regular or low sodium)
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar (rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar for brightness)
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil (for cooking)
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Optional Add-Ins

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (for nuttiness)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (for heat, optional)
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (for warmth, optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Pat the chicken dry and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a wide skillet over medium to medium-high heat. Add a thin layer of oil.

Cooking

  1. Sear the chicken until browned on both sides. If using bone-in thighs, start skin-side down for extra flavor. Remove to a plate.
  2. Lower the heat to medium. Add minced garlic to the pan and stir for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Pour in honey, soy sauce, and vinegar. Stir and scrape up any browned bits.
  4. Return the chicken to the pan, and spoon sauce over it. Let it simmer until the sauce turns shiny and thick and the chicken is cooked through. Flip once or twice for even coating.
  5. Rest for a couple of minutes, then serve with extra sauce over rice or vegetables.

Notes

For the best result, do not overcrowd the pan, and let the meat rest before serving.
