Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound Fresh green beans, trimmed (Look for firm, snapable beans.)
- 2 tablespoons Olive oil (Extra virgin recommended for best flavor.)
- 3 cloves Fresh garlic, minced (Use freshly minced for best results.)
- 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan cheese (Use freshly grated for better melt and crisp.)
- to taste Salt and black pepper
Optional Enhancements
- 1 teaspoon Garlic powder (For extra garlic flavor.)
- 1/4 teaspoon Red pepper flakes (For a bit of heat.)
- 1 teaspoon Lemon zest (For brightness.)
Instructions
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Rinse the green beans thoroughly and dry them very well with towels.
- Trim the ends of the green beans.
Seasoning
- In a mixing bowl, add the dried green beans, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and garlic powder if desired.
- Toss until the beans are evenly coated.
- Sprinkle half of the grated Parmesan cheese over the beans and toss again to ensure it sticks.
Roasting
- Spread the green beans in a single layer on a large sheet pan, ensuring there is space between them.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 14 to 18 minutes until they are lightly blistered and tender.
- Remove from the oven, sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese on top, and roast for an additional 2 minutes to let it melt and crisp up.
- Taste and add lemon zest or red pepper flakes if desired for extra flavor.
Notes
For best results, ensure beans and pan are dry before roasting. Don’t crowd the beans to avoid steaming. If using frozen green beans, dry them thoroughly post-thawing. Leftovers can be reheated in a hot skillet for best crispness.
