Description

A refreshing, slushy drink perfect for hot days that combines the sweetness of strawberries with the tartness of fresh lemons.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen strawberries (Fresh strawberries can be used, but frozen makes a thicker drink.)
  • 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice (Adjust to taste as lemons vary in tartness.)
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons sugar or honey (Adjust sweetness to taste.)

Optional Add-ins

  • 1 pinch salt (Enhances strawberry flavor.)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (Adds extra lemon flavor.)
  • 1 sprig fresh mint (Optional garnish.)
  • splash sparkling water (For a fizzy twist.)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. If using fresh strawberries, hull and rinse them. If using frozen strawberries, use them straight from the freezer.
  2. Juice the lemons for about 1/3 cup of lemon juice or to taste.
  3. Optional: Add lemon zest for extra flavor.

Blending

  1. In a blender, combine lemon juice and sweetener. Blend for 5 seconds.
  2. Add strawberries and a handful of ice. Blend until slushy.
  3. Adjust thickness by adding more ice or a splash of cold water, and taste to adjust sweetness.

Serving

  1. Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
  2. Optionally, rim the glass with lemon juice and dip in sugar, and garnish with a strawberry slice or mint.

Notes

This drink is best enjoyed immediately; if making ahead, blend and freeze in a container. Let sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before serving if frozen.
