Ingredients
For the Brownies
- 1 cup unsalted butter (Melted)
- 1.25 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (Melted with butter)
- 1.25 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs (Room temperature)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 0.75 cup all-purpose flour
- 0.25 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (Sifted)
- 0.5 tsp salt
For the Frosting
- 0.5 cup softened butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 Tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Food coloring (red, green, etc.) (For decoration)
- Edible sprinkles, nonpareils, or crushed peppermint (For decoration)
Instructions
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter and chocolate chips together in a microwave-safe bowl. Allow to cool slightly.
- Whisk together the sugar with the melted butter and chocolate mixture. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth out the top. Bake for approximately 25 minutes, until set. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before frosting.
Frosting and Decoration
- In a medium bowl, beat together the softened butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until light and fluffy.
- Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled brownies.
- Decorate with food coloring and festive sprinkles while the frosting is still tacky.
