Ingredients
For the Tuna Salad
- 1 can Canned tuna (in water or oil, both work) (Well drained)
- 2 tablespoons Mayonnaise (For creaminess)
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha or favorite hot sauce (Adjust to desired spice level)
- 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar or lemon juice (For brightness)
- 1 pinch Salt (To taste)
- 1 pinch Black pepper (To taste)
- 1/2 cup Celery or cucumber, chopped (For crunch)
- 2 tablespoons Green onion, chopped (For fresh flavor)
For Assembly
- 2 slices Bread of choice (Toasted for best results)
Instructions
Preparation
- Drain and flake the tuna in a bowl, keeping it a little chunky.
- Add mayonnaise and stir until creamy, adding more if it looks dry.
- Mix in sriracha and a splash of rice vinegar or a squeeze of lemon.
- Stir in chopped celery or cucumber and green onion. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Assembly
- Toast the bread slices.
- Layer with lettuce if desired to prevent sogginess.
- Add a thick, even layer of the tuna salad to each slice.
- Top with the second slice of bread and cut in half if desired.
Notes
For additional flavor, let the tuna salad sit for 5 to 10 minutes before serving. You can swap Greek yogurt for mayonnaise for a lighter version. Try adding pickles, grated carrot, or avocado for extra texture.
