Description

A creamy, spicy, and crunchy tuna salad sandwich that is quick to make and satisfying, perfect for busy lunches.

Ingredients

For the Tuna Salad

  • 1 can Canned tuna (in water or oil, both work) (Well drained)
  • 2 tablespoons Mayonnaise (For creaminess)
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha or favorite hot sauce (Adjust to desired spice level)
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar or lemon juice (For brightness)
  • 1 pinch Salt (To taste)
  • 1 pinch Black pepper (To taste)
  • 1/2 cup Celery or cucumber, chopped (For crunch)
  • 2 tablespoons Green onion, chopped (For fresh flavor)

For Assembly

  • 2 slices Bread of choice (Toasted for best results)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Drain and flake the tuna in a bowl, keeping it a little chunky.
  2. Add mayonnaise and stir until creamy, adding more if it looks dry.
  3. Mix in sriracha and a splash of rice vinegar or a squeeze of lemon.
  4. Stir in chopped celery or cucumber and green onion. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Assembly

  1. Toast the bread slices.
  2. Layer with lettuce if desired to prevent sogginess.
  3. Add a thick, even layer of the tuna salad to each slice.
  4. Top with the second slice of bread and cut in half if desired.

Notes

For additional flavor, let the tuna salad sit for 5 to 10 minutes before serving. You can swap Greek yogurt for mayonnaise for a lighter version. Try adding pickles, grated carrot, or avocado for extra texture.
