- 2 to 2.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- 1 to 1.5 cups your favorite BBQ sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional for extra sweetness)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- to taste none salt and black pepper
- ¼ cup water or chicken broth (if you like it saucier)
Instructions
Preparation
- Spray the inside of your slow cooker with a little oil.
- Add chicken in a single layer.
- Sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
- Pour BBQ sauce over everything. Add brown sugar if using.
- Cover. Cook on LOW for 5-6 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours.
- Once it’s fork-tender, shred using two forks right in the pot.
- Stir well so every piece is saucy.
Notes
For best results, do not overcook. Chicken thighs are more forgiving than breasts. For variations, try adding teriyaki sauce or chipotle for a smoky kick.
