Description

These bite-sized crispy churros are easy to make in an air fryer, offering a warm, sweet treat with a delightful cinnamon sugar coating, perfect for sharing or enjoying on your own.

Ingredients

For the dough

  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated sugar (for dough)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup All purpose flour
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract (optional)

For the cinnamon sugar coating

  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon

For air frying

  • as needed Cooking spray or oil for greasing

Instructions

Preparation of Dough

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a gentle boil.
  2. Once the butter has melted, reduce heat and add the flour all at once. Stir vigorously until a smooth ball forms and pulls away from the sides of the saucepan, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and transfer to a mixing bowl, allowing it to cool for 5 minutes.
  4. Beat in eggs, one at a time, mixing until the dough becomes glossy and thick. Stir in vanilla extract if using.

Air Frying

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  2. Pipe the dough into bite-sized pieces (about 1 to 1.5 inches) and snip with scissors, leaving space between each piece.
  3. Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden and set outside.

Coating and Serving

  1. While churro bites are still warm, toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until well coated.
  2. Serve warm, optionally with dipping sauces like chocolate sauce or dulce de leche.

Notes

Make sure dough is thick enough to hold its shape when piped. For best results, do not overcrowd the air fryer basket.
