Description

A creamy casserole that combines broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower in a cheesy white sauce with a crunchy breadcrumb topping, perfect for a cozy dinner.

Ingredients

Vegetables

  • 2 cups Broccoli florets
  • 1.5 cups Carrots
  • 2 cups Cauliflower florets

Cheese Sauce

  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Whole milk
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cups Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 0.5 tsp Garlic powder
  • 0.25 tsp Nutmeg, ground

Topping

  • 0.25 cups Breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp Parsley

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot, steam the broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower until just tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring continuously until thickened.
  5. Add garlic powder, nutmeg, salt, and pepper, and cook for an additional minute.
  6. Stir in the Cheddar and Parmesan cheeses until melted and smooth.
  7. Combine the steamed vegetables with the cheese sauce and mix well.
  8. Pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish and top with breadcrumbs and parsley.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  10. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For extra crunch, toss the breadcrumbs with a little more melted butter. Can substitute cheddar with Gruyere for a nuttier flavor.
