Description
Quick and easy air fryer roasted asparagus with a crispy texture and tender center, perfect as a side dish or a healthy snack.
Ingredients
Main ingredients
- 1 bunch Fresh asparagus (about 1 bunch, usually 1 pound) (Look for spears that are firm with tight tips.)
- 1-2 teaspoons Olive oil (Just enough to lightly coat the asparagus.)
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt (Start with this amount; adjust to taste after cooking.)
- to taste grinds Black pepper (A few grinds for flavor.)
Optional ingredients
- 1/4 teaspoon Garlic powder (Add for extra flavor.)
- to taste Lemon zest (Add before cooking; squeeze lemon juice after cooking.)
- to taste Parmesan cheese (Sprinkle in the last 2 minutes of cooking.)
- to taste Red pepper flakes (For a spicy kick.)
Instructions
Preparation
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F if your model has a preheat setting.
- Trim the tough woody ends of the asparagus. You can do this by bending one spear near the bottom until it snaps and then cutting the rest to match.
- Rinse the asparagus and dry them well, as moisture will cause steaming.
Cooking
- Place the asparagus in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt and pepper. Toss until every spear is lightly coated.
- Arrange the asparagus in the air fryer basket in a single layer, allowing for a little overlap.
- Cook for 6 to 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through for even cooking.
- Check for doneness: the tips should be crisp and the stalks tender when poked with a fork.
- Taste one spear to check seasoning; adjust with more salt or a squeeze of lemon as desired.
Notes
Air fryer roasted asparagus is best served immediately for optimal crispiness. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
