Ingredients
Dough Ingredients
- 1 large Egg (At room temperature)
- 2 tsp Active dry yeast (Dissolved in warm milk)
- 3 cups All purpose flour
- 1/4 cup Granulated sugar (For dough)
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 tsp Vanilla
- 4 cups Oil (For frying)
Filling Ingredients
- 1/4 cup Coffee
- 2 tbsp Instant coffee granules (Will add flavor)
- 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter
- 1 cup Heavy cream (Chilled for whipping)
- 1 cup Milk (Warm for dissolving yeast)
Topping
- 1 1/2 cup Powdered sugar (For dusting)
Instructions
Dough Preparation
- In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in a warm mixture of milk and sugar. Let it sit to foam.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and vanilla.
- Add the egg, butter, and the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients; knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
Frying
- Roll out the dough and cut it into donut shapes.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot. Fry donuts until golden brown on both sides.
- Allow donuts to cool.
Filling
- In a bowl, whip the heavy cream with instant coffee until fluffy.
- Fill cooled donuts with the coffee cream filling using a piping bag.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
If the cream looks loose, chill for a few minutes and whip again. Serve with coffee or milk. For a fun twist, add cinnamon or chocolate shavings.
