Description

A fun and spooky spaghetti dish garnished with mozzarella eyeballs, perfect for Halloween or themed parties.


Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 12 oz spaghetti noodles
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 15 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)

Garnish

  • 12 mozzarella balls (ciliegine or bocconcini)
  • 6 black olives, halved


Instructions

Preparation

  1. Boil the spaghetti noodles in salted water until they are al dente then drain the noodles and set them aside once coocked.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chopped onions, sautéing them until they become soft.
  3. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and add the tomato paste, sugar, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and red chili flakes (if using). 
  4. Create the mozzarella eyeballs by inserting halved black olives into each mozzarella ball.
  5. Toss the drained spaghetti in the sauce until it is evenly coated.
  6. Serve the spaghetti on plates and top each serving with the mozzarella eyeballs before enjoying!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
