Delicious, easy-to-make baked churro bites that are warm, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside, coated in cinnamon sugar.
Ingredients
Churro Dough
- 1 cup Water
- 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (Use real butter for flavor.)
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt (Reduce if using salted butter.)
- 1 tablespoon Sugar (Just a little for the dough.)
- 1 cup All purpose flour (Spoon and level for accurate measuring.)
- 3 large Eggs (Add one at a time.)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract (Optional but recommended.)
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons Ground cinnamon (Use more for a stronger flavor.)
Optional Dipping Sauces
- 1 Chocolate sauce (Warm chocolate chips with cream or milk.)
- 1 Caramel sauce (Store bought or warm dulce de leche.)
- 1 Berry jam (Raspberry jam pairs well.)
- 1 Sweet cream cheese dip (Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla.)
Instructions
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a saucepan, bring water, butter, sugar, and salt to a simmer.
- Once the butter melts, add flour all at once, stir until a smooth ball forms.
- Remove from heat, allow to cool for a few minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until dough is glossy.
Baking
- Spoon dough into a piping bag with a star tip, pipe short lines on parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake until golden brown, approximately 20-25 minutes.
- Crack the oven door and let them sit inside for a minute to prevent sogginess.
Coating
- Toss churro bites in cinnamon sugar while still warm for maximum coating.
Notes
These churro bites are best served warm. Consider adding extra cinnamon sugar for a stronger flavor.
