Description

Delicious, easy-to-make baked churro bites that are warm, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside, coated in cinnamon sugar.

Ingredients

Churro Dough

  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (Use real butter for flavor.)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt (Reduce if using salted butter.)
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar (Just a little for the dough.)
  • 1 cup All purpose flour (Spoon and level for accurate measuring.)
  • 3 large Eggs (Add one at a time.)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract (Optional but recommended.)

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Ground cinnamon (Use more for a stronger flavor.)

Optional Dipping Sauces

  • 1 Chocolate sauce (Warm chocolate chips with cream or milk.)
  • 1 Caramel sauce (Store bought or warm dulce de leche.)
  • 1 Berry jam (Raspberry jam pairs well.)
  • 1 Sweet cream cheese dip (Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla.)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a saucepan, bring water, butter, sugar, and salt to a simmer.
  3. Once the butter melts, add flour all at once, stir until a smooth ball forms.
  4. Remove from heat, allow to cool for a few minutes.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until dough is glossy.

Baking

  1. Spoon dough into a piping bag with a star tip, pipe short lines on parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. Bake until golden brown, approximately 20-25 minutes.
  3. Crack the oven door and let them sit inside for a minute to prevent sogginess.

Coating

  1. Toss churro bites in cinnamon sugar while still warm for maximum coating.

Notes

These churro bites are best served warm. Consider adding extra cinnamon sugar for a stronger flavor.
